The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE )for Nzema East, Madam Dorcas Elizabeth Amoah has has issued signal to any potential illegal miners within Municipality to desist from their already galamsey activities in the Evalue Ajomoro-Gwira Constituency.
Her signal came with galamsey operation embarked Tuesday, March 16, 2022. Which resulted in arrest of four(4) Chinese and one Ghanian noted as paniers in such activity.
The activities of these illegal miners in the Nzema East Municipal have polluted the river bodies that serves as means of water to nearby communities in the Municipality.
Li Hung Zhi, Bao Lin, Qianxi Uuana, Zhang Xia nad Kweku Zack(Ghanian) are currently in police custody for interrogations.
According to report, Municipal Security Council aid in a hideout at BAMIAKO” area 42 and its environs to execute such exercise.
In the process of the operation led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Dorcas Amoah two(2) pump machine gun and one(1) Chanfan machine among other items have been kept in the possession Axim Divisional Police Command.
Speaking to Kantanka News Reporter Benjamin Bray, Madam Dorcas Elizabeth Amoah said Government has made provisions for community mining, thus whoever desire to mine should follow due process by seeking permit from the authority.
According to her, the northern part of Nzema East has been captured with different people from all walks of life with the intention of mining illegally.
“We will not spear anybody who has interest in destroying our water bodies, such perpetuators will face the law”.
Madam Dorcas Elizabeth Amoah who moved an excavator from one illegal galamsey site emphasized that, the operation would be a continuous activity to minimize the activities of galamsey in the Nzema East.
