The Shama District, a fishing Community in the western region can only boast of one public senior education facility namely Shama Senior High School.
There has to be a need to get at least another Senior High School to boost the education system in the Shama constituency.
However, the Muslim Chiefs in the Shama District have called on the current Member of Parliament for Shama constituency who double as the vice chairman for Employment, Social Welfare and State Enterprises Committee of Parliament, Hon. Samuel Erickson Abakah to assist with them Islamic Senior High School in the District.
According to the Muslim Chiefs, through the efforts from some Non-Government Organization and other volunteers, they have gotten a land to facilitate the construction of the intended Islamic Senior High School.
Speaking to Vision1 Fm western regional correspondent, Benjamin Bray, the legislature, Hon. Samuel Erickson Abakah said the call from the Muslim Chiefs in the Shama District is a laudable idea because the need to get the various religious groups involved in education is very key to ensure that the youth do not engage in immoral activities.
Hon. Abakah emphasize that, he will use his office to lead the Muslim Chiefs to ensure that the Islamic Senior High School project becomes reality.
“I hope in the cause of my tenure, we will have a very beautiful edifice that would be in the status of Shama District”, he added
The Member of Parliament for Shama constituency therefore assured the Muslim Chiefs that they are going to get the school project ongoing.
The request for the Islamic SHS from the Shama District Muslim Chiefs surfaced when the legislature, Hon. Samuel Erickson Abakah presented some food items to them as they are about to end the 30-days Eid Al-Fitr prayers “festival of breaking the fast” across the globe.
