W/R: NANA BARIMA EKOW GYESA II, Remains The Only Gazetted Chief Of Fijai

Less than 1 minute Minutes

A communique sighted from Fijai Stool Secretary Emmanuel Tweneboah, indicate that Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II who doubles as the Acting President of Sekondi Traditional Council remains the only gazetted Chief of Fijai.

Fijai is a Divisional stool and it sub-communities include Kweikuma, Essaman, Nketsiakrom, Egyamoabekamu, Kyeremeyaamome, Fammaye in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region.

According to him, perpetrators are making such declaration from an inaccurate of a judgement from court of Appeal, Cape Coast dated 29th May 2019, where some group of people led by Joshua Donkor, Daniel Dadzie, Satuom, Kwamina Essein among others planned to deceived, mislead and attempt to throw dust into the eyes of the general public that Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II is destooled of which according to him it is not true.

The Fijai Stool Secretary emphatically said, there is no part of the judgement from Cape Coast court of Appeal and the supreme court stated that, Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II (Chief of Fijai) has been destooled.

Moreover no Judicial committee of the our Traditional council has declared Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II guilty of any charges from the Kingmakers of Fijai stool.

“When it Come to Chieftaincy issues if you are not part of the Kingmakers you cannot say you have destooled a recognized or gazetted Chief”, he added.

Mr. Tweneboah, indicated with respect to the court of Appeal, Cape Coast judgment, the stool stated that the court of Appeal does not have jurisdiction or power to remove or destool a Chief, by the Chieftaincy Act, Act 759 section (76)b which defines “cause or matter affecting Chieftaincy”.

The Fijai Stool Secretary further said, from the supreme court judgement, the majority decision was not different from the court of appeal decision, they only affirmed Appeal court decision which state that judicial committee’s jurisdiction was not properly invoked, that decision was against 13/11/2013 ruling only on the swearing in oath of allegiance and not the installation.

Information gathered indicate that Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II was enstooled in 17/11/2012 and not 13/11/2013 by the Kingmakers of Fijai Kokodo Ebiradze Royal Stool family and non of the Kingmaker have issues with installation.

However, one Joshua Donkor from Ngyiresia Abantwa Ebiradze family claims to be part of Royal Kokodo Ebiradze family of Fijai of which Ngyiresia Traditional council is different from Fijai Traditional council is against the installation of Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II as Fijai Chief.

Joshua Donkor through his lawyer Baffour Dwuman filed a motion to have the suit dismiss on grounds that Sekondi Traditional Council is not appropriate forum to determine the matter but that motion was dismissed as vexatious, misleading and calculated attempts to throw dust into the eyes of Nananom among Sekondi Traditional council.

“As I speak now Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II and Ebusuapanyin Yaw Badu have issue writ of surmmons against that Joshua Donkor before Sekondi Traditional Council on issue of Capacity and the case is now pending at Sekondi Traditional council. For emphasis’s sake, I open the relief before Sekondi Traditional Council by Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II and Ebusuapanyin Yaw Badu”, Fijai Stool Secretary hinted.

Furthermore, he stated there was a declaration indicating that, the defendant (Joshua Donkor) and his faction belong to the Royal Kokodo Abantwewa Ebiradze family of Ngyiresia which is under Essikadu

Paramouncy and are not members of the Royal Kokodo Ebiradze family of Fijai.

Again a perpetual injunction restraining the defendant (Joshua Donkor) and his faction, agent, servant, etc from interfering with the Fijai stool affairs and the customary functions and duties of the 1st plaintiff as the gazetted chief of Fijai.

Mr. Emmanuel Tweneboah, therefore debunked report circulating on social media purporting destoolment of the Member of Western Regional House of Chief, on behalf of Sekondi Traditional Council, Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II as Chief of Fijai.
