A final year student from Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS), in the Western Region, Raymond Archibold Inketsiah has emerged as the 2nd Runner-up at the 2021 Bible Society of Ghana National Essay Competition.
In the Western region, the 2021 winner, Archibold Inketsiah, scored 70%, making the 2nd Runner-up to the National Winner who scored 73% on the topic; “Surviving As A Young Christian In A World Of Perverse Social Media”.
However, Raymond Archibold Inketsiah from Ghana Secondary Technical School became 1st among 15 Senior High School students from the Western region who participated in the BSG National Essay writing competition with other schools in Ghana.
After receiving his award, (Bible, Samsung Tablet, Nextgen Booklets, and flask), for emerging as the 2nd runner up in the competition in the national category, the science student expressed his profound gratitude to the Bible Society of Ghana and urged his colleague students to put God first so that the creator can open a new chapter in their life’s.
The National Essay Competition by the Bible Society of Ghana is an annual event organized for Senior High Schools across the country, where it seeks to sharpen the writing skills and also instill in the youth the principles of Christianity.

Participating schools from the Western region include Takoradi Senior High School “TADISCO” in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality, Ghana Secondary Technical School, and St. John’s Senior High School both in Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
Students from the various Senior High Schools in Ghana who participated in the 2021, competition were engaged to write an essay on the topic; “How can I uphold my integrity as a youth.”
Speaking on behalf of Mr. Kweku Kum, chairman, Oversight Committee of BSG, Western Region, elder Bethel Ansah-Kyei congratulated all participants in the 2021 competition and introduced students at Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS), Takoradi to the 2022 Bible Society of Ghana National Essay writing competition with a topic; “How Can I Uphold My Integrity As A Youth.”
The topic chosen for the competition, according to Mr. Kweku Kum is vital as integrity is a panacea for the growth and development of the country.
In his address delivered by Elder Bethel Ansah-Kyei, (Member, BSG Oversight Committee, Western Region), he indicated that “without integrity, they (human beings) will face problems.
Furthermore, integrity could only be achieved, based on the word of God and therefore the youth are encouraged to develop the habit of reading the bible.
He said there are elements of corruption and bribery within Ghana, and therefore once they are very much in tune with the principles of integrity, young ones who will take over from them are able to live by that, and Ghana will be a better place going into the future.
The National Essay writing competition by the Bible Society of Ghana would be opened to students from all senior high schools (SHSs) in the country and last for three months with the deadline slated for July 31.
Meanwhile, students participating are expected to submit their essays before the stipulated deadline through the Bible Society of Ghana’s email with an expected word count of 1,000 supported by biblical facts.
The National Essay Writing Competition was launched in Tema, a month ago where the winner would be presented with a laptop, bible, plaque, and a printer.
However, the Bible Society of Ghana is expecting higher participation by the youth as compared to 2021 as they believe the completion would help impact the society and the country at large.
