Ghanaian dancehall musician, Stonbwoy has called for peace in his town of Ashaiman after members of the Ghana Armed Forces stormed the suburb over the death of their colleague.
According to reports, a member of the armed forces had been killed by people in Ashaiman, a suburb of Accra, causing the soldiers to besiege the town and brutalize residents. The deceased soldier, a 22-year-old soldier and part of the Ghana Armed Forces band is said to have been stabbed several times by thugs in the town a few days ago, causing his colleagues to ‘avenge’ his death by storming the suburb.
In videos posted on social media, soldiers whipped residents while some were made to roll down in muddy waters caused by the rains.
Stonebwoy, who is away in the USA for his 35th birthday celebration asked for peace and an end to any form of brutalization against the residents through a post he made on social media. He also expressed a desire that the main perpetrators behind the death of the soldier be apprehended and made to face the law.
