PRESS CONFEFENCE ORGANIZED BY THE NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY IN SEFWI WIAWSO IN RESPONSE TO NDC’S INSIPID CLAIMS CONCERNING THE JUST ENDED ELECTIONS.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the press, Good morning and thanks for honouring our invitation which was on a short notice.

Before we begin to clear the air, we will like to acknowledge the effort of our gallant party folks who contributed to this victory. We also wish to thank our Traditional Leaders for their guidance and solemn advice.

The agenda which gave birth to this meeting today is the aftermath of the just ended Presidential and Parliamentary elections in Sefwi Wiawso Constituency

We in the New Patriotic Party in the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency have taken notice of social media engagements by the National Democratic Congress concerning the outcome of the 2020 Parliamentary elections in the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency.

According to the NDC, the outcome of the Parliamentary Elections is a stolen verdict and that, their failed candidate ought to have been declared the winner. We are not surprised by the conduct of the National Democratic Congress because, even a toddler in this county knows their stock in trade.

The party by this press conference is minded by the dusts thrown out in the public domain by the NDC to poison the atmosphere for people to believe that, their failed parliamentary candidate has been cheated without providing any substantial basis to back their “alcoholic induced” claims.

It must be emphasized that, the decision by the NDC to resort to needless and senseless demonstration is an evidence that, they have still not recovered from their electric shock and still remains confused.

Be that as it may and considering how loud they want to sound, one would have expected them to move straight to the high court with their pinksheets to challenge the results they claim is a stolen verdict. Common Sense should have directed the NDC the appropriate forum for a proper ventilation of their “so called grievance.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the press, the NDC must be told in plain language that, disputes arising out of Parliamentaty Elections cannot be settled on the street but rather the high court.

It must be understood that, the success story of the NPP in Sefwi Wiawso which resulted in the snatching of the parliamentary seat from the NDC for the first time since 1996 has been by the good work of our venerable Member of Parliament, Dr Kwaku Afriyie.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dr Kwaku Afriyie’s impact in Sefwi Wiawso has been tremendous over the years and same is the reason why the NPP is making a headway in an NDC dominated environment.

The records would show that, in 1996 General Elections, Sefwi Wiawso alone gave NPP votes deficit of Thirty-Four Thousand, Three Hundred And Thirty-Two( 34,332) in the Presidential Election.

It is instructive to note further that, the emergence of Dr Kwaku Afriyie saw a significant reduction in the margin of votes between the NDC and NPP. The figure as quoted above in 1996 was reduced to only Six Thousand Seven And Hundred And Fifty-seven in 2008 Presidential Elections.

Distinguished friends from the media fraternity, It is not in doubt that, for the first time in the history in Ghana, the margin of votes between the NPP and NDC in the just ended Presidential Elections is an evidence that, the NDC’s world bank in Western Region has been captured for good by the NPP.

The overwhelming endorsement of Nana Akufo Addo and overwhelming rejection of Mahama by the good people of Sefwi Wiawso in the just ended Presidential Elections is also an evidence on the face of the pinkshee that, the people of Sefwi Wiawso are happy with the elephant and would not on any day settle on a perforated umbrella.

The party’s attention has also been drawn to attacks on NPP supporters by the NDC. As we speak, Sefwi Ewiase, which is the home town of the failed parliamentary candidate, two of our supporters have been attacked for no reason. We are by this calling on the security agencies in the region to conduct a thorough investigation into some of these skirmishes and bring perpetrators to book.

We also wish to caution our teeming supporters to be measured in their celebration of this momentous elephant victory. On this wonderful note, we say ayekoo to Dr Kwaku Afriyie for how far he has brought the NPP in Sefwi Wiawso Constituency.
