According to the Director of Western Regional Public Health, Dr. Gifty Amugi, Ghana under the directive of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo eased the Covid-19 Social restrictions.

She stated that about 43.9% of the eligible populations in the western region have so far received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine with 26.3% that are fully vaccinated whiles 3.4% of the fully vaccinated persons have received a booster dose.
Addressing the media in Sekondi-Takoradi on strategies being mounted for the exercise, Dr. Gifty Amugi stated that they are leveraging on the Covid-19 National Immunization Day “NID” which commenced on the 21st to 25th April 2022 to improve their vaccination coverage.
She added that in the Western Region, they will mark this exercise by serving all eligible persons in the region at their doorsteps with the vaccines, be it at work, homes, religious gatherings, or schools among others.
Dr. Gifty Amugi noted that about 56% of persons in the Western Region have neither taken the 1st and 2nd doses nor the booster of the Covid-19 vaccination.
