A man has sadly lost his life after a fight with a trotro mate over a lorry fare increment.
The incident happened on Saturday, 29th October 2022 in Lapaz. The man, whose identity has not been revealed yet, died after an altercation broke out between him and a trotro over the fare increment of 2 cedis.
According to an eye witness, a heated argument ensued after the trotro mate informed the now-dead man of the new lorry fares. The man was told by the trotro mate to disembark from the vehicle if he did not feel like paying the new fare but he refused and all further attempts to get him to disembark proved futile.
The driver of the vehicle then drove back to the boarding station so the man could alight and look for another vehicle. However, the man still refused to alight. This then led to a fight between the man and the trotro mate after the mate tried to get him down forcefully.
According to the eye witness, the trotro mate punched the man and the force of the punch sent him to the ground with his head hitting the pavement. The man is said to have died instantly from this.
