President Akuffo Addo has assured Ghanaians that he will fix the economy of the nation before his term in office runs out within 22 months.

According to the president, the nation was experiencing rapid economic growth before the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic and the invasion of Ukraine by Russia halted that steady growth. He stated that the economy he inherited when he initially took office was severely challenged one which had the lowest growth rate in two decades.

The president, who was speaking at the 66th independence day celebration of the nation, revealed that he managed to turn that severely challenged economy around before the pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine emerged. According to him, during the years 2017, 2018, and 2019, Ghana’s economy was one of the fastest growing in the world with an annual GDP of 7%.

He noted that Ghana was described as the best place for business investments in West Africa during the years before the pandemic. He has however made an assurance to the people that he will turn the ailing economy around within the remaining 22 months of his tenure.
