As part of activities outlined commemorated in the observation of the “Green Ghana Project” initiated by government in 2021, Takoradi Forest District focused on planting about Four Hundred Thousand “400,000” seedlings across 6 political District in the western region.
These 6 political District include, Mpohor, Wassa East, Sekondi-Takoradi, Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal, Shama District and Ahanta West Municipal Assemblies.
All the 6 political Districts involved themselves in the just ended exercise and for that matter Takoradi Forest District Manager, together with his staffs, institutions, students and chiefs were abled to plant the trees.
Speaking to Kantanka Akwansosem, the Takoradi Forest District Manager, Charles Nketsia said, Tree planting is a shared responsibility for all of them and they need to engage themselves in the exercise because it is the only way that they can save the environment.
He added that, the Green Ghana project was good initiative which President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo a year ago, with the aim of planting 5Million trees.
However, Mr. Nketsia noted that about 7Million trees were planted in 2021 across the country which he termed as achievable.

He stated that the launch of the Green Ghana Project was launched because they saw a number of trees within the forest being degraded where there was also the need to replant the degraded forest across the country.
He indicated that Ghanaians have abreast themselves with the Green Ghana Project of which 20Million seedlings are expected to be planted in Ghana today.
The Takoradi Forest District Manager added that after the launch of Green Ghana Project in March, 2022 by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, Takoradi Forest District have achieved about 80%
He appreciated the effort of individuals, institutions in Sekondi-Takoradi and beyond for showing interest in the collection of the seedlings.
However, the Takoradi Forest District manager Mr. Charles Nketsia urged Ghanaians to show commitment to the government initiative to protect Forest reserves.
The Green Ghana activities for the 6 political Districts was celebrated on 10, June, 2022 at Daboase in the Wassa East District of the western region.
