Four persons, including a teenage girl, have been arrested by the police for alleged robbery and the gruesome murder of a taxi driver, at Kojo Ashong in Accra.

On Wednesday 2nd December, 2020 a taxi driver Kwadwo Hakim aged 49 years was allegedly killed by four(4) suspects namely Yakubu Muftaw alias 24/7,age 24 years, Famous Kulakan alias Rashid age 27, Muhammad Adul alias Aminu 22 years, and Chelsea Boateng alias SHE 24/7 age 17 and a girlfriend to the First suspect Yakubu Muftaw alias 24/7.

Suspect Chelsea Boateng alias SHE 24/7 hired a service taxi and then took him to where the other three suspects were at Achimota, Saint John, to Obeyeyie, near Amasaman in the Ga West Municipality but attacked the driver during the journey and tied both hands and legs, covered his mouth with a clothe and dumped him into the river Densu.

COP Isaac Ken Yeboah, Director General CID, confirming the incident noted that the suspects were arrested upon intelligence when they offered to sell the taxi Daewoo Matiz with registration number GE 9997-20 to a buyer at ‘Bigot Spot’ Abeka Lapaz at a suspicious price of Eight Thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc 8,000.00) hence lead to the arrest of all four suspect and when interrogated, admitted having conspired to rob and kill the deceased.

The body of the deceased has been retrieved from the river and conveyed to the Police Hospital mortuary for autopsy and the vehicle has also been retrieved by the police, whiles investigations continue.

They have been charged with the offence of Robbery and Murder contrary to sections 149 and 46 of the criminal and other offences Act, Act 29/60″ he said.

COP Isaac Ken Yeboah, advice all drivers to be mindful of odd times when they are been hired and also to the general public to also be cautious when they are hiring or boarding cars at odd times.

He also urge the general public who have fallen victim to robbery at the Kojo Ashong area to contact the police to assist in investigations, and also requested people to provide reliable information to the police to help in investigations.
