Essikadu/Ketan constituency was one of the NPP strong hold Constituencies that the NDC targeted to win it for the first time ever since it was caved out of the Sekondi constituency.

In fact the 2020 contest at the Constituency was so tough that for the first time in the Campaign Strategy history of the ruling NPP, the Incumbent Member of Parliament for the Constituency and the then Minister for Railway Development had to intensify his campaign by rushing to construct some bad roads within the Constituency.

These roads were shabbily done and have deteriorated in less than two years.

This culminated in the slogan, ” Se Grace anka anky3” to wit if Grace has not mentioned it.

The energy of the foot soldiers of the National Democratic Congress was so gingered to the point that Non NDC supporters could not help but join some campaign groupings that were formed to help mobilize every single NDC member and sympathizer to go out there to campaign for the Party and more particularly it’s Parliamentary Candidate. Groups like ”FRIENDS OF DR. GRACE and DR.GRACE LADIES had some of the executives being non NDC supporters.

One Person who brought this re-awakening of the NDC in the Essikado/Ketan constituency was no doubt the Handiwork and Charisma of their Parliamentary Candidate in the Person of Dr.Grace Ayensu Danquah.

She, all of a sudden became a household name and no wonder the youth of Essikado Nicknamed her, GRACE WALE, a replica of the Movement of Dance Hall maestro Shatta Wale.

This was not achieved on Silver Platter but due to the Campaign Strategy put in place by the Parliamentary Candidate and executed by the Regional, Constituency and Branch Executives and the result is there for everyone to judge.

For the first time in the political history of Essikado/Ketan NDC, the Party had its highest votes ever in terms of parliamentary votes and came close winning the seat for the first time.

Information Reaching our news desk indicates that subtle efforts and plans are being hatched to replace the 2020 Candidate, and as a strategy, the constituency elections were allegedly skewed so that most old executives were retained in a blatant abuse of incumbency.

So there was the issue of the album that was used for the election, which had no photos of the delegates as well as voting without photo ID’s.

Impostors according to our source were arrested, but were freed upon the intervention of some party executives. According to our source, as the elections day for Parliamentary Candidate primaries gets near, all efforts are being employed to ensure that Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah loses the primaries.

Our eavesdropping exercise at the Constituency indicates that should the party changes Dr Ayensu Danquah as the party’s Parliamentary Candidate, the foot soldiers of the party and some concern electorates of the constituency will force her to contest the seat as an independent Candidate.

What baffles us is if what we are picking from the constituency is true, then we pause to ask these few questions.

1. Why will the party want to change a candidate like Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah
2. Who are behind this plan to take off Dr. Grace
3. What are their reasons for this motive
4. Do they have any hidden agenda and interest if Dr. Grace goes independent.
We call on the National and the Regional executives of the party to quickly get to the ground and find out the veracity or otherwise of the rumors making the rounds in the Constituency and find an antidote to to it before it explodes beyond control.
