The Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis for some time now has faced with mischief reportage by some journalists in the media outlets being radio, TV, online, print.
Meanwhile, Management of Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital through an engagement with the media has appealed to Journalists in Sekondi-Takoradi working for various media outlets to do accurate reportage on the only referral health center in the Western Region.
According to the medical director, Dr. Joseph Tambil, Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital faces various forms of problems including how some media report on issues that surface at the health facility in terms of healthcare delivery among others.
Mr. Kojo Tambil said if the media could have gotten closer to the hospital management, some issues that reached them through clients would have been resolved amicably.
This was made known when the management of Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital engaged the media on reportage and also alert them on development of the hospital.
The purpose of the engagement was for Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital management to deepen collaboration with the media as part of strategy to reach out to the community that they serve and also educate journalists about processes such as complaint procedure, costumer relation issues, discipline procedure.
Again it was as part of measures for accounting to the community on their management of the facility and to sell the vision of Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital to the media as key partners in their developmental evolution into a tertiary facility
Meanwhile, the medical director addressing the media indicated Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital faces many setbacks which include, infrastructure, delay in redevelopment project, financial challenges as Covid-19 spending not being paid for, low NHIA tarrifs, absconding clients, dumping of unidentified dead bodies, media mischief, among others.
The Director appealed to clients who go to the hospital to receive healthcare also to report to management anytime they encounter difficulties at the health facility so that issues can be addressed internally rather than seeking the media to address their issues.
