The Bible Society of Ghana’s branch in the Western Region over the weekend held African Biblical Leadership Initiative (ABLI) Youth Forum in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis on 25, June 2022 with the aim of raising the quality of leaders through dialogue.
The African Biblical Leadership project was initiated in 2008 when the Bible Society of Ethiopia and other partners were offered the opportunity by Parisians within the African Union hurricane to deliver events during the African Union heads of state summits in Addis Ababa in January 2009.
About 200 youth derived from churches in Sekondi-Takoradi participated in the African Biblical Leadership Initiative Youth Forum.
The forum was designed by the Bible Society of Ghana with prominent, resource personnel who tackled a number of topics regarding integrity, servant leadership, transgenerational leaders’ identity, time management, transparency and accountability.
According to Mr Kweku Kum, the chairman Oversight Committee of the Bible Society of Ghana, the forum was to create a platform for the youth to learn and share ideas and most importantly to empower them with transformational work of the Bible which reaffirms the need for hard work initiative, that refers to respect and accountability at all levels of work.
Nevertheless, the Oversight Committee chairman for the Bible Society of Ghana branch in the Western Region Mr Kweku Kum, emphasized that Ghana is not developing because its citizens have no response to time.
He said the youth of today should begin to recognize that time is very important in their daily lives.
The BSG’s Western Regional Oversight Committee chairman indicated that corruption is not only setting the country backwards but also people’s poor attitude not reporting work on time.
He, therefore, urged the new generation especially the youth to respond to time early in whatever they engage themselves in during their daily lives.
Moreover, the guest speaker, Rev. Dr Kennedy Obeng who doubles as the headmaster of Ghana Secondary Technical School “GSTS”, speaking on the topic “Integrity, Transgenerational leaders identity”, said the greatest crisis in the world today is deformed leadership where the poor and the rich country thriving in win organisations are differentiated by the leadership structure.

He added that many such goals of these organisations are being prepared by “Who Leads What”.
The former Western Regional secretary for Scripture Union continued that leadership is a higher calling and those who practice it are required to exhibit a high degree of honesty and probity.
“However, this seems not to be so and we seem not to care as resources are being mismanaged, issues aborted and destiny’s wasted”, Rev. Dr Kennedy Obeng added.
