Annual Excellence Award Encourages BECE Pupils – Methodist Bishop

The Sekondi Diocesan Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Rt. Rev. Daniel De-Graft Brace has stated that the institution of Annual Excellence Award for Basic School pupils who performed creditably in the Basic Education Certificate Examination “BECE” is a means of encouraging the pupils to study hard and pass well without resorting to examination malpractices.

He indicated that the Annual Excellence Award for 2022 will be extended to Teachers and Schools whose performances would be judged to be excellent.

Rt. Rev. Daniel De-Graft Brace made this known when he addressed colleagues and past bishops, Supernumeraries, and other dignitaries at the 61st Annual Synod of the Sekondi Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana.

The 61st Annual Synod was with the theme ” Discipleship: Living the Transformed Life in Jesus Christ”.

The Sekondi Diocesan Bishop whose tenure of office draws closer said, as promised last year at Synod, the Diocese has renovated the Dixcove Methodist Junior High School block which was in a very dilapidated state and a threat to the lives of the teachers and the pupils.

However, it has now left painting after which it will be handed over formally to the educational authorities.

He indicated that the Sekondi Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana continue to support Methodist Educational Unit to organize annual mock exams for Methodist Basic School pupils who are in their final year to prepare them for the Basic Education Certificate Examination as it has yielded results in previous years.

Again, financial support to some members in their education at both the Pre-Tertiary and Tertiary levels would not be left out.

Rt. Rev. Daniel De-Graft Brace expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all members of the Sekondi Diocese both clergy and Lay, Past Bishops, Past and Present Lay Chairmen, Standing Committee Members, the honorary Treasurer of the Diocese Fund, Office Staff, Lay Workers Association, members of the various Committees set up to see to the implementation of work to be done and decisions are taken to move the Diocese forward.
