Popular American Hollywood actor, Idris Elba, has revealed that he is set to construct a state-of-the-art movie studio in Ghana after he visited the country. The actor unveiled his plans to establish the movie studio in the country after he visited president Akuffo Addo at the Jubilee House in the capital, Accra.

During his interactions with the media, the ace actor revealed that the studio was currently under the name of ‘West African Studios’ although that was just a working title. He also told the media that he and his team had been working for the past three years in raising a plan that will put the movie studio at the center of African filmmaking. According to him, Africa was lacking in facilities needed to produce top-notch movies.

Idris Elba hoped that the movie studio project would draw more filmmakers into Ghana and the African continent. It is rumored that the project will cost around $350 million and would be made up of a movie studio and a production company.
