W/R: GWIRA BANSO CHIEF CALL ON GOVERNMENT TO POST MORE EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHERS TO RURAL AREAS

The Divisional Chief of Gwira Banso, NANA ETTE AKRADE II, is calling on the government and Ministry of Education to post more Early Childhood teachers from the universities and colleges of Education to rural areas as part of their internship programs.

According to the Gwira Banso Divisional Chief NANA ETTE AKRADE II,, this move will enhance teaching and learning from Kindergarten {KG} to the Lower Primary.

Again, posting of Early Childhood Teachers to rural areas would help the teachers themselves put to use the knowledge and expertise as school children also get impacted through teaching and learning.

He indicated that pupils in the rural parts of the country are academically good but the lack of learning materials and logistics such as Information Technology (IT), furniture and science labs impedes teaching and learning.

“Most children in the rural areas are good at academic work but the lack of basic facilities obstruct teaching and learning,” He said.

NANA ETTE AKRADE II emphasizing on Education system at Gwira Banso hinted that over the years, students from Gwira Banso and its adjourning communities have to travel for about a three-hour journey to BAMIANKO in the Nzema East before they can get to the examination centre to write their BECE exams.

This, however, became a burden to the Chief because it influences their performance, So, the Chief in his efforts decided to address the situation.

However, NANA ETTE AKRADE II later began to engage the stakeholders to get the community an examination centre so that the children will no longer go through those stress and challenges during the period of writing BECE exams.

However, observing the stress that students have been experiencing for years, together with some stakeholders they have managed to get examination centre at Gwira Banso.

Speaking to the press at the Western Regional Ghana Education Service 2nd Annual Review and Retreat, NANA ETTE AKRADE II stated that there is over crowding in the classrooms at the basic school, since there are inadequate staff especially teachers.

According to Divisional Chief Nana Ette Akrade II, poor road system, and poor telecommunication network force tutors to seek transfer from the school.

Not withstanding NANA ETTE AKRADE II therefore called on the Communication Ministry to help Gwira Banso get access to proper communication network.

The Gwira Banso Divisional Chief speaking to the media appealed to the government of Ghana to help the schools in the area with ICT lab and equipments.
