Some Youth who were having fun at “Club 99”, a night club along the road of Essiama Abranteɛ street in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region have assaulted a commercial driver who uses “two seat vehicle” popularly known as “Nzema Jet” by name Evans Armah Kofi after signaling them to pave way for him to convey sick SHS student to hospital.
Information gathered indicate that at exactly 12:15 am midnight the said driver was transporting a senior high school student who was seriously sick to Essiama hospital.
Report further state that when the driver got to “Club 99” on Abranteɛ street at exactly 12: 30am, the road was blocked by the multitude of the people who were engaged in buying, dancing, drinking, coupled with misbehaved attitude on the road.
The driver Evans Armah Kofi humbly got down to signal them to give way because a lifeless person was lying in his vehicle who needs to seek medical attention at the hospital.
Unfortunately, the driver after pleading with them, one of the youths hit the driver with a bottle on the head, where another person also hit him with a bottle on his left eye leading to deep cut.
The youth who blocked the stretch road of Essiama Abranteɛ street for their personal pleasure at “Club 99” after injuring the commercial driver took away his wallet containing a lot of money, Ghana card and other IDs.
Meanwhile the injured taxi driver and the sick student were later rushed to Essiama hospital for treatment.
According to a Journalist working with Nzema Fm at Axim, Patrick Assuah, this unlawful act demonstrated by the youth at “Club 99” is a wake up call to stakeholders to monitor the activities of the night club, especially on Sundays because the area is becoming no- man’s – land nowadays.
He noted that at Esiama one can see teenagers of school going age, students and youths in the area, kissing, dancing and drinking excessively, blocking of road at abrantee and attacking drivers who want to pass through that area to the hospital incase of emergency or to other places.
In his view, the chief and elders in Essiama must help the police by summoning all the “Club 99” operators to ensure perpetrators are brought before the law.
Furthermore, the Police and Chief in Essiama are therefore urged to monitor the activities and programs of night clubs in the area most especially, routine Sundays night clubs, every Sunday night pubs in the area that operate till dawn.
The case has since been reported to Essiama police for investigation.
