Less than 1 minute Minutes

A former Member of Parliament (MP) for Suhum Constituency, Mr. Frederick Opare Ansah has confirmed his intention to contest in the New Patriotic Party’s General Secretary position in the upcoming internal national elections.

According to him, he stands for quality political and use of political democratical processes in the selection of leaders.

Mr. Frederick Opare Ansah who might face other aspirants for the General Secretary position including Charles Bissue, John Boadu in the General Secretary position made this known to Kantanka News when Friends of Opare-Ansah organized a dialogue forum with delegates in Takoradi.

Mr. Opare-Ansah said there were due consultations, sober reflections, and deep consideration of questions posed on him before he decided to declare his intention to contest for the position as General Secretary of NPP.

He emphasized that being a public servant for several years, he sees this as a call to duty, a call to help drive the New Patriotic Party further towards achieving its vision to remain in the service of the nation as a ruling party.

He added that it is a call to take NPP back to the electorates to seek the support of Ghanaians to allow NPP to consolidate the unprecedented developmental policies that the Nana Addo-led NPP government has initiated.

Meanwhile, the sixteen year veteran of the Parliament of Ghana, indicated that the country would be getting to the crossroad by 2024 when it will have to decide to choose between going back to John Mahama and his NDC or maintaining the NPP which will certainly then mean for them to achieve their goal of breaking the cycle of eight years governance of each party.

The NPP General Secretary hopeful stressed that for them to break the eight, the new leadership of NPP will have to follow the examples of the past and also advise, guide and support the government of NPP led by President Nana Add Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“It is time for the NPP to be bold, forged a new path by finding space to accommodate the views of the minority to rebuild the nation and to move it back into the path of property which Nana Addo has already set caused before the advent of Covid-19”, he added.

Furthermore, Mr. Opare-Ansah indicated he sees the future NPP promoting inter-party dialogue and eschewing the culture of insults that have been deviled and characterized Ghanaian policies.

The former Deputy Minister for Communication noted that they need to work more in consultation and in conjunction with various Civil Society Organizations, Traditional and Religious leaders, Academia, the press, and other minority parties and members of identifiable organizations whose interests are in alignment with their desire to see Ghana grow in leaps and bounds.

Mr. Frederick Opare-Ansah hinted that the party had leadership required for the challenge confronted with, whereas the current leadership had done it best in the past, meanwhile, the current and future challenge ahead requires a different kind of leadership mentally and approachable.

He continued that, due to noninclusion, some NPP faithful have become apathetic with party officials not even approaching them to bring them back on board.

The “FOA” affirms that the former Member of Parliament for Suhum Constituency is the best choice for NPP to build, enhance, strengthen structures to make the party ready and competent for 2024 general elections and beyond.

Many former Members of Parliament including, Mark Asibi Yeboah, Ama Sey, Joe Mensah, Joe Baidoo Ansah among other dignitaries accompanied their colleague and entreated NPP delegates to cast their votes and elect Mr. Opare-Ansah to be the next General Secretary.
