The Adenta Divisional Command led by ACP /Mr. Joseph Owusu-Bempah embarked on an intelligence led operation to clamp down on activities on motorbike today at 5am this morning.
The operation which was made up of 50 men from the Adenta division and Greater Accra Regional Police Command, seized over 59 motorbikes during a swoop this morning .
Speaking in an interview with the new independence , Greater Accra Regional Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Afia Tenge explained that investigations revealed that most robbery cases reported within Adenta and its environs pointed to the use of motor bikes by these robbers.
“The swoop was to clamp down on activities of criminals who use motorbikes to snatch bags from unsuspecting residents and visit mayhem on them at the least resistance” she said.
According to ASP Afia Tenge, screening, interrogation and profiling of the riders of the impounded motorbikes are in the process and those linked to any crime will be processed for court.
“Decision by the Police Command to embark on this unexpected operation is expected to continue in the divisions and extend to others in the next few days” ASP AFIA Tenge, said.
