78TH MYOHAUNG DAY: GHANA ARMED FORCES CALL FOR COLLABORATION AMONG NATIONS

A retired military officer Col. JOHN ARMAH OKAI {Rtd} has called for palpable collaboration among nations of the sub-region in the areas of intelligence sharing and offering training assistance to affected nations.

Col. JOHN ARMAH OKAI {Rtd}, stated that the Intra National Collaboration involves the military and all the other security services at the national, regional, and district levels.

According to him, the collaboration will go a long way in presenting a united front against the menace as well as boosting the morale and efforts of the affected nations.

He continued that the collaboration which existed during the battle of Myohaung cannot be over-emphasized.

Meanwhile, he urged the military men and women not to relent in their training as their primary function is the defense of the nation’s territorial integrity.

As part of the Barracks Regeneration Project Col. Rtd. indicated the government is currently putting up a 28-unit 2-bedroom accommodation facility for troops.

Furthermore, the Unit through a self-help project has embarked on an initiative to support the efforts of the government by constructing a 14-unit single-bedroom self-contained accommodation for young soldiers in the unit.

Col. Rtd. John Armah Okai, however, called on corporate bodies to lend a helping hand in the self-help project to help the young soldiers focus and be dedicated to duty calls at all times.

He made this known to the media during an address at the 78th Myohaung Anniversary Celebration on Monday 23, January 2023 at the 2nd Battalion Infantry in Takoradi- Apremdo.

The 78th anniversary of the Battle of Myohaung is celebrated to remember the gallant heroes in 1945 sacrifices of soldiers and other security services who toiled day and night to keep the country safe and secure.

It is said that the victory attained by the 81st African Division against the Japanese helped to demystify the aura of fear and invincibility surrounding them.
